STEP OUT OF THE SHADOWS

Work with your shyness and lead a bigger life

Shy and Mighty is on a softly-spoken mission to give shy people a voice.

Our purpose is to help the world to understand, value and support shy people.

Shyness makes us feel isolated. And nobody talks about shyness. (Of course, we don’t!) But we are not alone. Half of all humans are shy!

Shyness is not weakness. Shyness is not a shameful secret. Let’s own our shyness, and work with it.

The loud, outgoing idea of success is not ideal. It’s time for a softer, more considered approach. Shy people have unique qualities and skills. Nurture and appreciate them.

The world needs to hear our voice.

Our mission is to give all shy people the support and resources they need to step out of the shadows and to train every teacher and every manager to understand and empower every shy person they work with.

Together we can unleash the shy potential in our society.

Hi, I'm NADIA

I’m the least likely person to have started a revolution. But here I am, on a softly-spoken mission to help shy people be more mighty.

I know what it’s like to struggle with shyness.

For me, my shyness started because of my little voice – literally. I have a small voice that makes people mistake me for a kid when they ring me on the phone.

Sounding like a little kid has made me very self-conscious and shy.  But, rather than hide behind my insecurities, I figured out how to embrace my little voice, push past my fears, and tap into my hidden strengths.

As a result of embracing this thing that could have held me back, I’ve built a career as a an author, shyness coach and international speaker. I’m also possibly the least likely boxer ever to step foot into the ring!

That’s why I’m not here to lecture you, boss you around, patronise you, or force you to do things that you’re uncomfortable with. I know that you need gentle support and encouragement to coax you out of the shadows and towards your goals.

GET IN TOUCH

If you’re struggling with your shyness, worried about your kids, or you’d like to chat to me about speaking requests or school programs, pop me an email and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Kind Words ……

In all honesty I’m still struggling to come up with the words to express a) how impressed we’ve been with everything, b) convey the elation and excitement from seeing our daughter come so far, c) articulate my sincerest, heart felt gratitude! I’m genuinely struggling to find a way to do all these any justice, but I am hoping you can grasp what I’m trying to say. “

Tony

It would have been impossible to achieve anything like this within our relationship, as we are just too close and with the natural parent / child dynamic we just would not have been able to provide her the sounding board or environment to explore / grow. So thank you again for helping our girl and for encouraging her to shine! “

“As a former painfully shy child and young adult, I would like to thank you as a woman now in her 60s for setting up Shy and Mighty as well as for speaking so brilliantly on the TV today about the issues of shyness. You must have struck a nerve because, during the programme, I couldn’t get onto your website because it was so busy! I wish you well and hope that you continue with your message to help all those around the world who are Shy & Mighty.”

Val

“You just happened to pop up on TV while I was eating my lunch! Thank you for highlighting that shyness is on the up because of the impact of Covid, but that also, being shy is not an affliction. Sensitive people help make sense of the world and provide much-needed empathy.”

Hayley

“I saw you on ITV news last week and I cannot tell you how relieved I was that I did, was devastated when they cut you short. I felt like it was fate that I watched the news at a time I wouldn’t normally. You are amazing. I feel like you really understand my son. I could cry at how sad I feel for him, but I’m committed to helping him feel better. Thank you so much.

Sam

You are such an inspiration. A little voice really can change the world.

Student

I can almost see light at the end of the tunnel already, Nadia! It’s early days, but my mindset is changing quickly. And that’s where it starts. Right?.

Carol Ann

Fascinating and inspirational. Should be compulsory listening for children, teachers and parents. Seeing shyness as a positive, now there’s a thing!

Simon

’Im not sure how exactly to sign off as “thanks” just seems scant, but it is all I have! So thank you for being there for Keilidh, for sticking with things and giving her the strength to see the person she can be.”

Mr Anderson

She has come so very far, and you can see her really starting to believe in herself now (nearly as much as we do). We see it manifest now on a daily basis. Nadia – you are simply amazing, and so please we stumbled upon you when we did! “

Andy

That was such a beautiful, human, wise and profound description of shyness. You will have made a lot of people feel better about themselves and opened a door for them. Thank you.”

Jenny

Being a mother of a very shy child I’ve just begun following you, having seen you on the news. In the past, I’ve always felt the need to make excuses for him when he won’t join in at first and always worry that he comes across as rude. But now, I can finally see how to encourage my son rather than try and defend his shyness. Thank you!”

“Teachers, if you have shy children in your classes (that’s probably all teachers) it’s worth listening to Nadia Finer. Enlightening.”

Ben

Nadia has something unique that I dare say is not seen enough in the worlds of coaching: humility. Along with that beautiful virtue, her no nonsense practicality coupled with savvy know-how skills and smart strategy, make her the most lovely combo to work with. Don’t let the little voice thing fool you, she’s one kick ass coach that isn’t afraid to be herself and help you claim your place in your business and creations! I just love her, what else do you need to know?!

Michelle

Cheers to being the quietest most introverted rockstar I have ever met. Thank you for all the golden nuggets of wisdom you dropped today!

Rhonda

“I just discovered your work and wanted to tell you how much I love it! I’m a naturally shy person and was a VERY shy child. Both of my parents are extroverts and had a hard time understanding me. That’s why the work that you’re doing is so important!

I’m 34 now and have only recently started to embrace my shyness. My husband and I are hoping to start a family soon, and I love that this next generation of kids will learn that you don’t have to be the loudest person in the room to bring value.”
